5. VEGETABLES

Vegetables are any part of plants that are edible, meaning it is able to eat, and they have been categorized into 9 main groups which often based on their structures of the plant.

  • Stem Vegetables

  • Leaves Vegetables

  • Flowers Vegetables

  • Stalk or Bulb Vegetables

  • Seed Vegetables (Beans)

  • Roots Vegetables

  • Tubers Vegetables

  • Fruits Vegetables

  • Fungi Vegetables

1. STEM VEGETABLES

The stem part is located on top of the root or bulb which most of stems are  edible part.

  • Asparagus

  • Celery

  • Kohlrabi

  • Leek

2. LEAVES VEGETABLES

Leaves of vegetables are one of the most popular part that are consumed. Moreover, they can either come in a form of single-separated or many layers.

  • Spinach, Cabbage, Water Cress, Lettuce, Bok Choy, Gai Lan, Choy Sum, Brussels Sprouts, Witloof, Silverbeet, Radicchio, Kale, Collard Leaves, Swiss Chard, Mustard Leaves, and Fenugreek Leaves.

3. FLOWERS VEGETABLES

In some vegetables, flowers are presented which are cultivated in a specific period of a year or season.

  • Cauliflower, Broccoli, Courgette Flowers, Squash Blossoms, Artichoke, Agati (Dok Kae, Thailand), Banana Flower, and Lotus.

4. STALK OR BULB VEGETABLES

Stalk vegetables are unique from others in term of their direction and location of their growth. They grow below the ground which are between the roots and stem. Also, they tend to rich in flavour.

  • Onion, Garlic, Spring Onion, Leek, Kohlrabi, Fennel and Shallots.

5. SEED VEGETABLES (BEANS)

Seed vegetables are plants that are not legumes and produce pod like fruit.

  • Fava Beans, Kidney Beans, Green Peas, French Beans, English Beans, Lima Beans, Licorice, Peanut, Snow Peas, and Soy Beans.

6. ROOTS VEGETABLES

This type of vegetables are simply refer to any roots of plants that are edible.

  • Beet, Carrot, Radish, Horseradish, Turnip, Celeriac, Daikon, Enset, Jicama, Konjac, Maca, Arrowroot, Chinese Water Chestnut, and Taro.

7. TUBER VEGETABLES

Tuber-related products are plants that have their roots grow and form together to a larger one. thus, this roots are attached to the rock below the ground.

  • Potato, Cassava, Sweet Potato, Taro, Jerusalem Artichoke, Yam, Yacon, and Kumara.

8. FRUIT VEGETABLE

These vegetables are consisted of any fruits that are neither raw,sweet,and fleshy nor a product of grains or seeds.

  •  Tomatoes, Avocado, Bitter Gourd, Eggplant, Caigua or Bottle Gourd, Bell Peppers, Ackee, African Eggplant, Ash Gourd or Winter Melon, and Chayote.

9. FUNGI VEGETABLES

Fungi vegetables are distinct from other types as they are resembled mushroom. They comprised intense smell and taste, but some types of fungi are poisonous.

  • Button Mushroom, Enoki, Oyster, Shitake, Truffles, Portabello, Boletus, Chanterelles, Grifola Fondosa, Morchella, Shimeji, Straw Mushroom, Porcini, and Morel
